With more than 95 publications and 30+ years in higher education, he is internationally recognized for his research on ethnic matching, culturally responsive teaching, and teacher diversity. He is the recipient of the Philip C. Chinn Book Award (NAME, 2019) and the Neuner Award for Excellence in Professional Scholarly Publication (AAUA, 2020). He currently serves at the University of Nevada, Reno, and hosts The Cultural Context of Knowledge, a podcast connecting research and educator practice to explore how culture shapes learning, knowledge, and equity in education.
